Children deserve to experience a nurturing learning environment that fosters their natural ability to learn. My experiences working with students in lower socio-economic classrooms who sometimes need an extra positive relationship with a nurturing adult has created a desire for me to impact student learning in greater ways beyond academics. I desire to create a classroom community that is founded on value-centered aspects of respect and acceptance, where students are free to wonder, experiment, and explore. As I personally invest in each of my students through these values, it is my hope that the relationships these students have with one another will be built on this same foundation. Through these relationships, students will be able to experience exploratory and collaborative learning experiences based on my students' passion for the content. Above all, it is my hope that my students will discover incredible meaning behind their learning of content knowledge along with the learning they gain from collaborating with their peers.
